If you’re a sex worker, you know the nuisance of time wasters. They try to be elusive, but for the most part they are very blatant in their disinterest in paying. Unfortunately there is a very low chance of them all disappearing off the face of the universe so we have to make do. Here are ways that I, a mainly online sex worker (though I do enjoy real-time femdom and findom, too!) avoid the hassle of freeloaders trying to disguise themselves as customers or subs.
Have other things to do.
On top of working on this website, I am a clip creator with a fan site and multiple social media platforms. I quite literally am too busy to entertain freeloaders. If I have downtime, I fill it up with a webtoon I like, journaling, meditating and planning out content for the future. The only way to get a moment of my time while I’m busy is by paying me. If I don’t see a new subscriber, clip sale, custom order or tip, I’m not going to be led away from my duties or me time.
Though, if you DO end up responding to them,
Keep it short.
If someone wants to pay you, the only reason they would not have done so already is if none of your payment methods are available. I went out of my way to make custom URLs for my paid platforms so they’re easier on the eyes and if I didn’t feel like switching tabs to copy-paste something, I can just type it from memory. If I do not feel like typing a link, I can just say to refer to my pinned/about me/bio. This brings me to the next point-
To ensure you can quickly phase out nonsense,
Have an accessible bio, pinned post, FAQ etc.
I’m someone with little patience for those who feel entitled to my time and energy. If someone tries to talk kink, they get a LINK. If you are on my website (as you would be reading this blog post!), my About Me page gives you a rundown of how I work and how to best serve me. My Twitter page has not only a pinned post with links but links in my bio. Any excuse a freeloader has for not paying is not worth your time entertaining. If they are a customer or sub that was going to pay you, they would without hesitation.
This is one of my favorite ways to avoid time wasters.
Do not respond at all.
Most of the means to contact me have a message requests filter so, if they do not tip or send a useful message (a message with a tip attached), I would never see them. Most people who want to get a rise out of you will get bored when they realize they’ll be talking to themselves forever. If the freeloader feigns ignorance and continues to speak with nothing beneficial for you, block and report. If this is the case of harassment and they continue to make multiple accounts, block their IP address and get the platform heads to suspend them (this works for some platforms but not all considering how little most realms of the internet care about the wellbeing of sex workers).
The most important lesson here is this:You cannot have your time wasted if you do not give your time for free in the first place.
Use your discretion. Some customers are simply shy and need some prodding, but the best customers know how to pay and be on their way. If you have a feeling in your gut that someone is acting entitled to your time, move on. You do not have to make everyone who approaches you a customer. Trying to do that will lead to burnout and stress and you deserve comfort and peace!
